FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What products do you use?

Hollie uses a variety of professional and luxurious, high quality products that have been trialed and tested by her on a variety of skin types. Specific brands include: Gorgeous Cosmetics, MAC, Nars, Bioderma, Sukin, Becca, Urban Decay, Stila, Laura Mercier, Estee Lauder and more to give the best variety on the trend setting market.

Will my makeup last all day?

Through years of experience, Hollie takes immense pride in creating beautiful skin and ensure that it remains beautiful all day. It is recommended however, that you purchase a travel sized translucent powder to touch up any oiler areas throughout the day. Mostly long lasting and waterproof products are used ensuring the longevity and minimal touch ups.

What touch up products do you recommend?

Bridal parties will require touch up products to maintain the hair and makeup look throughout the day. Items used at the trial can be purchased at an extra cost such as lipstick etc. This payment is non-transferable if you change your mind after the items have been purchased.
Otherwise, after your trial and your non-refundable deposit have been paid, I am happy to release a list of recommended items and products used during your trial in case you want to purchase certain items for your wedding day.
Alternatively, I do provide touch up kits (as listed under SERVICES for more details) to purchase for yourself, or your bridal party.

What is a trial?

A trial is your opportunity to meet Hollie prior to your event. The trial process is designed to give you the chance to try hairstyles and makeup looks. Generally the best time to book the trial is for your Hen’s Day, or no later than a month before the wedding.
Makeup Application and Hairstyling trials are generally booked for brides to have a trial or practice run with what they would like for their wedding day. Please note that this is not essential, however highly recommended to alleviate stress and confusion on the day, and so you know exactly how the result will look. Hollie will ensure that you receive a wealth of knowledge, ideas, advice and feedback on appropriate colours, textures and styles to suit your particular face, skin colour and type. The final decision on the style is yours.
For brides, wearing lighter coloured clothing is recommended so as to give you the best imitation of the day. Additionally, to gain the most out of your trial experience, have some ideas and photographs prepared that you like from magazines, Instagram, Pinterest etc to help Hollie pinpoint the look you are trying to achieve. Any other details of your wedding i.e colour theme, your dress, bridesmaids dresses, hair ideas, flowers and jewels are also welcome. That way I can learn a little more about you and your style and transfer that into your look.
Please note that without a trial we will not accept responsibility if a desired style or look does not meet expectations on the wedding day and a refund will not be offered.

What should I do before my trial/wedding day to prepare for my appointment?

– Lightly exfoliate your face the night before to buff away any dead skin and cleanse the morning of your appointments.
– Ensure that your skin is moisturised.
– Ensure that your hair is shampooed, conditioned and air-dried before your appointment ( surcharge may apply for hair that requires blow drying/blow waving).
– Ensure that you apply lip balm to avoid dry skin and cracked lips.
– Drink plenty of water before your big day.
– Please have a lipstick colour ready for yourself and one for your bridesmaids, re-applying throughout the day.

Should I have a fake tan/wax/skin peel etc. before my wedding day?

Prior to booking the trial and event date, ensure that Hollie knows of any other appointments that you may have on the same date to avoid confusion. If you are in need of any appointments, please ensure that you do a trial run with them before the event, as accidents can occur ie: fake tan is not the right depth of colour. That way when it comes to makeup application, your skin can be correctly colour matched, and it will not be irritated.

How many people can I book for?

As many people as you may like, but please specify within your inquiry. Generally, Hollie can accommodate bookings for both hair and makeup for up to five people. For more than five people, a separate hair styling assistant will be utilized. A recommendation for this is to choose your own hair stylist for the day, and simply book Hollie for makeup to ensure the best professional result possible.

How does timing work on the day?

Please let Hollie know what time you will need to be ready by upon booking. Starting times vary within reason depending on her schedule. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes for makeup application and hairstyling, or 40 minutes each.

When is my booking confirmed?

Your booking will be confirmed when your 50% deposit is secured, and you receive a receipt.
